Depth

Depth is shown in this picture by the use of texture and value.  The artist created the texture of  roofing on top of the houses to make it look real  and 3 dimensional. The houses in the front of the  picture are lighter than the houses in the back to make them seem closer.

Rhythm

Rhythm   is the use of different types of lines and other visual units to create an image that looks as if it is moving. Rhythm is shown in this photo by the repetition of zig zag lines. The angle that the photo was taken shows the dimensions of the lines and creates the illusion that they are moving.

Balance

Print, Sep/Oct 2000, pg 88 Balance refers to the distribution of weight or force within a composition. Shapes in the picture work together to create an even composition. This photo shows balance in a few different ways. The woman's round face and the cucumbers on her eyes show radial symmetry. The artist uses a green color scheme that feels neutral and balanced throughout the picture. The picture doesn't quite have symmetrical balance because of the seeds in the cucumber, but it does show approximate symmetry.
